กำลังพลสำรองที่เข้ารับราชการทหารตามมาตรา ๒๐ ต้องอยู่ในวินัยทหารตามกฎหมายว่าด้วยวินัยทหาร เช่นเดียวกับทหารประจำการหรือทหารกองประจำการ แล้วแต่กรณี
