สถาบันอุดมศึกษามีหน้าที่ในการทะนุบำรุงศิลปะและวัฒนธรรม โดยการอนุรักษ์ ฟื้นฟู สืบสาน และเผยแพร่ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นและของชาติ รวมทั้งส่งเสริมให้มีการวิเคราะห์ สังเคราะห์ และบูรณาการการทะนุบำรุงศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมกับการเรียนการสอนและกิจกรรมของผู้เรียน
