ส่วนที่ ๑ บททั่วไป

สัญญาจำนองเรือให้ระบุมูลหนี้และจำนวนหนี้ที่จำนองเรือนั้นไว้เป็นประกัน จำนวนหนี้ตามวรรคหนึ่ง จะระบุจำนวนเงินแน่นอนตรงตัวหรือจำนวนเงินขั้นสูงสุดที่ได้เอาเรือนั้นตราไว้เป็นประกันก็ได้ และจะเป็นเงินไทยหรือเงินต่างประเทศก็ได้
