ก่อนเข้ารับหน้าที่ สมาชิกสภาองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดต้องปฏิญาณตนในที่ประชุมสภาองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดว่า “จะรักษาไว้และปฏิบัติตามรัฐธรรมนูญแห่งราชอาณาจักรไทย จะซื่อสัตย์สุจริต และปฏิบัติหน้าที่เพื่อประโยชน์ของประชาชน”
